Benefits and Nutritional Properties of Lemons

  • Lemons are best known for their high content of vitamin C and they are also known for how they really do a good job at helping our body build and maintain that strong immune system we need, in order to fight diseases.
  • Lemons increase collagen production and detoxify the body. Helping our skin stay young and wrinkle-free.
  • Lemons can be used to treat colds, flu and other infections.
  • A compound called Lemonene which is found in lemons, contains anti-cancer properties.
  • There are several other nutrients found in lemons such as vitamin B3, B5, B6, folate, calcium, copper, iodine, iron magnesium, manganese, phosphorus and selenium.

Whether you find yellow lemons or green lemons (also called limes), these two kinds have the same nutritional properties. In North America, yellow lemons are the most commonly used. While in other parts of the world, limes (green lemons) are referred as lemons, and yellow lemons are unknown. Buy whichever is available in your area, they will give your body the same benefits.
